IAS (Indian Administrative Services) examination is conducted
by UPSC (Union public service commission). It is considered to be the most
challenging and difficult government job in India. Every year lakhs of students
appear for the exam but only few hundred are selected. The mentioned figures
itself suggest the difficulty level of examination. It provides a good salary
and power and that is why it is considered to be the most desired job in India.
Indian foreign service:
The second most reputed government job in India is of an IFS
(Indian Foreign Service) officer. An IFS officer represents India to the rest
of the world. The administrative head of
IFS is foreign secretary of India.
Indian revenue service:
IRS (Indian revenue service) examination is conducted by
Union public service commission (UPSC) every year. It is conducted in three
stages: preliminary examination, IRS main examination and interview. An IRS
officer works in income tax department and enjoys a good salary.
Lecturer:
Another prestigious government job is lecturer of a
government university. A large number of people look for such job. A lecturer
in a government university earns good money. The minimum eligibility criteria
for becoming a lecturer in university is to clear NET (National Eligibility
test) conducted by university grant commission (UGC).
Probationary officers
in Banks:
P.O. (probationary officer) is the most popular government
jobs among youths. A large number of youth appear for such examination every

Defense:
Another reputed government job is defense. In defense people
serve country. Indian defense is in three parts: Military (land force), Navy (water
force) and Indian air force (air force).
If one wants to join Indian army the person has to clear NDA
